Rishiri’s specialties are “Orochon Ramen” and “Misochon Ramen”. The differences between “Orochon Ramen” and “Misochon Ramen” are the soup base. “Orochon Ramen” is a soy-sauce based ramen, and “Misochon Ramen” is a miso based ramen. The soup is very thick and flavorful, and it combines pork, chicken, konbu seaweed, and suppon (Chinese soft-shelled turtle). Rishiri adds more than 10 kinds of chili, leek, and bell peppers into the soup of “Orochon Ramen”, and you can adjust its spiciness on a scale from 1 to 9. Kikanbou （鬼金棒）is a ramen shop located nearby the Kanda station. The specialty of Kikanbou is its Karashibi Ramen, which is very spicy and tingling. You can chose the level of its spiciness （辛, kara）and its tingling level （痺, shibi）on a scale from 1 to 5. The red demon represents the spiciness level, and the blue demon represents the tingling level of the soup.

The Karashibi ramen combines red pepper and sansho, which makes the ramen spicy and tingly at the same time. Sansho is the pricklyash pepper that gives your tongue a tingling and numbing sensation. If you want to get the maximum kara and shibi, you will need to pay 200 JPY more as each addition of flavor costs 100 JPY.
