Terada Mokei (Model): Feel the Story Expressed in this New Japanese Art Form
There is a kind of art that is the same and known everywhere in the world, which is a toy called “plastic models”. However, in Japan nowadays, there is an even more developed art, which is the Terada Model (Terada Mokei). This time, we would like to tell you about the characteristics of the Terada Model and its artistic charm.
What is the Terada Model?
It is a set of plastic ready-to-assemble models made at a reduced scale of 1/100. The utilization of a small space brings out an artistic charm that is different from a regular model. Another major characteristic of the Terada Model is that they are not just models of buildings or other objects; they are models that feature people or living things. Doing so adds expression to the models, which touches people’s hearts and even conveys a story. The most charming and enjoyable aspect is that it can be enjoyed in 4 stages; before it is assembled, during assembly, completion, and the positioning of people and its entire arrangement.
These are pictures of various completed Terada Models.
