Godzilla Resurgence: Godzilla finally comes to Japan after 12 years!
Toho announced that they will be releasing a new installment in the Godzilla series on 7/29/2016, after nearly 12 years. It’s titled “Godzilla Resurgence” (or “Shin Gojira” in Japanese). Hideaki Anno, director of Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Shinji Higuchi, director of Attack on Titan, is the special effects director.
As the slogan, “Japan vs. Godzilla” implies, the setting is Japan. And they’re going to include various famous events that Japan has experienced in these 12 years since the last release. Among those will be the 3/11 tsunami.
There are also many saying that this Japanese one is truly scary, compared to the Godzilla released by Hollywood in 2014. Even in terms of numbers, this one is said to be 118.5m tall—the tallest Godzilla to date, surpassing the Hollywood Godzilla which was 108m tall.
It’s all a mystery because they’ve only shown people running around. We’ll be eagerly awaiting for the release.
